Guys Test the Stats on Different Tinder Openings to Over 14 Thousand Women
So, you've finally gotten a match on Tinder. How do you open? The stakes are high, and any wrong word could mean the end of the conversation, and your shot at romance. But fortunately, the guys at 1 Minute Talk Show decided to help you out by messaging over 14.5 thousand women, and charting which openings netted them the highest rate of responses.
The relationship expert Kevin Carr wrote in a piece for mindbodygreen that the three keys to a first message are capturing attention, showing personality, and eliciting a favorable response. 1 Minute Talk Show's data backs that up.
The classic "hey" performed at an abysmal 2.4%, but just a quick twist to "ahoy there," or "top of the mornin' to ya," received responses over 75% of the time. The "wall of text" however, is a flat-out no-go.
Of course, it is impossible to verify 1 Minute Talk Show's data, or even prove that they didn't make it all up - they do have their comments suspiciously turned off. But the general principles of Tinder messaging hold true.
Still, getting a response is just the first step. Now you have to turn it into a date. Sorry, you're on your own for that part.
